Campaign a damp squib in Hoshiarpur
Hoshiarpur, July 9
In Basti Sansian village, under the leadership of DIG Dr S Bhupathi, 300 police personnel today conducted a search operation, which ended unsuccessfully, despite the fact that more than 100 FIRs have been registered against various people dealing in drugs, including women in large numbers, in the area. Videos and photos of addicts buying drugs in Basti Saisian have gone viral several times, but the police could not find anything even after hours of search.
During the operation, all roads leading to the village were closed, the village was completely sealed and the houses were searched. Besides, people coming to the village were also searched and interrogated but all in vain.
Later, in an official statement, the police said after the formation of the new government, 21 cases were registered in the Garhshankar police station under the NDPS Act, under which 31 accused were arrested and 380 gm of heroin, 362 gm of intoxicants, 25 and a half kilograms of sawdust. Posat, 700 intoxicating capsules and 1,650 tablets have been recovered. The statement had details of the search operation, but no information about any recoveries today. — OC
Info leaked?
If sources are to be believed, drug dealers had already received information about the search operation in advance, so the police were forced to return empty handed from Basti Sansian village, which is infamous for drug peddling.
