Maruti Suzuki commences export of its SUV Fronx to Japan

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, on Tuesday, commenced export of its ‘made in India’ SUV Fronx to Japan.
The first consignment of over 1,600 vehicles left for Japan from Gujarat’s Pipavav port. Fronx is the second model from Maruti Suzuki to be exported to Japan, after Baleno in 2016. It is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat.
Fronx is planned to be launched by Maruti Suzuki’s parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation, in the autumn of 2024 in Japan.
Speaking on the milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Our export to Japan is a testament of Maruti Suzuki’s capability to manufacture world-class vehicles that exemplify cutting-edge technology, exceptional performance, internationally recognised safety, and quality standards.”
Maruti Suzuki, shipped over 2.8 lakh units to over 100 countries in FY 2023-24. The company has 42 per cent share in the exports of passenger vehicles from the country. In the first quarter of FY 2024-25, the passenger vehicle maker exported a record 70,560 units, the highest ever in any quarter one of the company.
