Building contractor attacked, critical

Two persons attacked a building contractor with sharp weapons near Jamalpur Chowk yesterday. The man was beaten up in full public view near the Jamalpur police station. He was taken to the Civil Hospital from where doctors referred him to the CMCH, here, due to his critical condition. The man got 25 stitches on his head.

The victim, Tara Singh, a resident of the Tibba road area, said he received a call from his friend Gyan Chand to visit the police station for filing a complaint regarding a financial dispute between his friend Gyan Chand and some other persons. The opposite party had made his friend to sign some papers. While returning home from the police station, two persons attacked him with sharp weapons at Jamalpur Chowk.

He alleged that the miscreants who attacked him were sent by those with whom his friend had the financial dispute. He lodged a complaint against the assailants at the Moti Nagar police station and demanded that they should be arrested.
