The BJP-led NDA government’s maiden Budget since its re-election in June has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable and equitable growth while retaining the focus on creation of jobs, India Inc said on Tuesday.

CII President Sanjiv Puri said the Budget 2024-25 provides an extensive roadmap for each segment of society so that every Indian becomes an equity holder in the growth aspirations of the new and progressive India.

“The focus of the Budget on employment, skilling, MSMEs, and the middle-class along with measures for agriculture, urban development, incentivising states to carry out NextGen reforms, taking steps for promoting a virtuous cycle of consumption, investment and demand, and support to start-ups and women, among others is timely,” said Puri.

The FICCI also hailed the budget, saying it was a growth-oriented budget that has delivered both short term demand stimulus and actions focused on medium to long term growth imperatives, while maintaining fiscal discipline.

FICCI President Dr Anish Shah said, “The Budget is inclusive, with a strong thrust on quality job creation and skilling. It also strikes a balance between agriculture and manufacturing, with elements of services.”

“The focus areas of budget are very much in line with the FICCI’s key priorities for the industry and we are happy to note that many of FICCI’s suggestions have been considered in this budget, as seen in the proposals for accelerating agriculture research, enhancing participation of women workforce in manufacturing, factor market reforms for improving manufacturing competitiveness as well as measures to promote green economy,” he added.

Likewise, Assocham lauded the “bold” Budget. “This is a bold Budget keeping in view longer-term fiscal prudence. With no easy giveaways, it focuses on a longer, more sustainable path of job creation through manufacturing in the country,” Assocham President Sanjay Nayar said.
