BSF nabs three drug peddlers

In a joint operation with the Punjab Police, the Border Security Force (BSF) have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered small quantity of drugs and mobile phones from their possession.
Those arrested include Gurmukh Singh, a resident of Sarangdev village, Harpreet Singh, a resident of Fattewal village, and Sukhman Singh, a resident of Raipur Kalan village.
Senior officials of the BSF said a naka party deputed near Saidogazi checkpoint observed movement of two suspicious persons on a bike. They were coming from Sheikh Bhatti village when the BSF jawans stopped them. During search, jawans seized two knives and a small packet suspected to be containing contraband from the duo. The motorcycle on which they were travelling was without registration number plate.
During initial probe, the suspects told the police that more contraband was concealed at the house of their associate identified Sukhman Singh, a resident of Raipur Kalan. Immediately, police teams were dispatched and a search operation conducted at the house of Sukhman Singh leading to the recovery of several more packets suspected to be containing the contraband.
A BSF spokesman said a total of 14 small packets of the contraband were seized along with two mobile phones along with a bike from the suspects. The suspects were handed over to the Ajnala police station for further investigation.
The police registered a case under the NDPS Act against the three suspects and initiated further probe to establish their links with drug syndicate operating in the border belt, said sub-inspector Kailash Chander, who is investigating the case.
