A vehicle sped away after hitting a pedestrian in Sector 53. The police said the incident was reported near the gurdwara. The victim was rushed to the government hospital in Phase VI, Mohali, where the doctors declared her dead on arrival. The police have registered a case at the Sector 36 police station. TNS

Mobile phone snatched

Chandigarh: Two scooter-borne miscreants snatched the mobile phone of a woman near her house in Sector 44. The police have registered a case at the Sector 34 police station and started an investigation.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
