A 31-year-old National Security Guard (NSG) personnel shot himself with his own service rifle in his barrack at Sudarshan Camp near Indira Gandhi International Airport. “The deceased has been identified as Narender Singh Bhandari and the incident took place on Tuesday,” DCP (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani said. Bhandari, a NSG staff member, was on deputation from the Army.
Chhath Puja: holiday today
In observance of ‘Pratihar Shashthi’ or ‘Surya Shashthi’ (Chhath Puja), Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena has declared Thursday as a public holiday for all government offices in the Capital. The notification mentioned that the previously declared restricted holiday for Chhath Puja had been cancelled.
