Briefly: Man held for raping minor
The police have arrested a resident on the charge of raping a minor girl. The accused has been identified as Sagar Singh of Chacha colony, Lohian Khas. A case under Section 65(1) (rape of a woman under 16 years) of the BNS and 6 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered against the accused.
3 arrested for drug peddling
Phagwara: The police have arrested three 'smugglers' who were nominated in the case of smuggling 102 kg of poppy husk. The accused have been identified as Parmatma Singh, alias Bhola, of Saichan village in Kapurthala, Gurdit Singh, alias Gitu, of Saichan village and Boharr Singh of Dholewal village in Moga. A case under Sections 15-C-/61/85 of the NDPS Act was registered in this connection and the truck driver and cleaner were already arrested with 102 kg of poppy husk. Two main accused are still absconding.
Six booked for assault
Phagwara: The police have booked six villagers, including two women, on the charge of assaulting a woman. The accused have been identified as Gurbag Singh of Reharrwan village his wife Balwindar Kaur, his daughter Lovepreet Kaur, son Sukhveer Singh, Manpreet Singh and Gurjant Singh of Mohariwal village. Binder Kaur of the same village complained to the police that the accused barged into her house on November 18 late evening and attacked her and family members with weapons and seriously injured them. A land dispute was the reason behind the attack.
Camps for voters today
Hoshiarpur: Special camps will be organised for the revision of voter list on Saturday and Sunday in the district except Chabbewal. DC-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal said during these camps, booth-level officers will be present at polling booths from 10 am to 5 pm and will receive claims and objections.
Villagers held for farm fires
Phagwara: The Nakodar City police have arrested two villagers for burning paddy stubble. The suspects have been identified as Harbans Singh and Makhann Singh of Pandori Khas. The Mehatpur police arrested Balwindar Singh of Bulanda village and Teju of Udhowal village for burning paddy stubble. The Bilga police booked a villager for burning paddy stubble in Bilga village.
Scooter found stolen
Phagwara: An Activa scooter Punjab-32C-0406 was reportedly stolen from near bus stand, Phagwara. Scooter owner Sarwan Kumar of village Gumman told the police that he parked the scooter near the bus stand but found it stolen after sometime. The police have registered a case. A case has been registered in this regard.
