Karnataka secured the overall title with an impressive 392 points at the 24th National Para-Swimming Championships which concluded here on Tuesday. Maharashtra finished second with 378 points, while Rajasthan took the third spot with 248 points. The event witnessed participation of 518 swimmers from 28 states, with 360 men and 158 women competing across various categories. Remarkably, 231 of the participants were first-time competitors. In the individual categories, Mohammed Aasim of Kerala emerged the men’s senior champion, showcasing his exceptional skills in the pool.

Naomi Osaka to miss remainder of WTA season

Naomi Osaka will miss the remainder of the WTA tour due to a back injury. The Hong Kong Open, set to begin on October 28, announced on its social media channels on Monday that the four-time Grand Slam singles champion was not only withdrawing from the tournament but also ending her season early. Osaka retired from her fourth-round match against Coco Gauff at the China Open three weeks ago and has not played since.

Two-time Olympian Diksha Dagar won the Hero Shot skills challenge here on Tuesday, beating seven challengers who will line up for the Women’s Indian Open. Dagar came through the quarter-finals in second place with 175 points behind England’s Alice Hewson, who scored an impressive 300 points in the challenge that needed participants to put the ball as close to the pin on the 18th hole with three scoring circles around the flag hitting from 80 yards out.

Warner willing to come out of retirement, play against India

Former Australia opener David Warner on Tuesday said he is willing to come out of retirement and play against India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, if the home team needs him in the opening slot.The 37-year-old left-handed opener had announced his retirement from the sport earlier this year following the home Test against Pakistan here. While the hosts had won the clash, Warner scored 34 and 57 in both innings, respectively.

Rajasthan all-rounder Surinder Kumar Khorwal, who plays despite an artificial limb (prosthetic left leg) as he was born with just one leg and a physical disability in his right hand, emerged as the best performer in the league stage of the fourth T20 National Physical Disability Championship.
