Briefly: 2 women nabbed with 25gm heroin
The police have arrested a woman and seized 15 gm of heroin from her possession on Wednes night. The accused Lajja of Chhajja Colony, Phagwara, was nabbed at a check point. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. In another case, the police had arrested a woman and seized 10 gm of heroin from her possession. The arrested woman Bimla of Majitha was arrested near a naka. She was also booked under the NDPS Act.
Three youths held with drugs
Phagwara: The police have arrested two youths and recovered 450 gm of opium from him. The accused Varinderpaul and Harpinder Singh, both residents of village Nihalgarh (Phagwara), were nabbed at a check point at Miherru when they were coming in a car, which had also been impounded. The police have registered a case under NDPS Act against the accused. The police had arrested one youth under the NDPS Act and recovered 190 gm of ganja from his possession.The accused Deepak Kumar of Machhiwara was nabbed at a check-point near village Saprod .
2 held under Arms Act
Phagwara: The police have arrested two persons and recovered one .32 bore pistol and one cartridge from their possession. The arrested accused Harpreet Laly and Sachin, belong to village Pholrriwal. A case under the Arms Act has been registered against the accused.
Man held, 3kg poppy husk seized
Phagwara: The police have arrested one person and recovered 3 kg of poppy husks from his possession. The arrested youth was identified as Kuldip Kumar resident of village Jagjitpur. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. The police have also arrested a woman Shindo of Chhaj colony and recovered more than one dozen bottles of illicit liquor from her possession.
Miscreants shoot at 4 villagers
Phagwara: The police have registered case under the Arms Act against unknown assailants on the charges of firing and injuring four persons at village Bhabhiana (Phagwara) after attacking a villager at Domeli with sharp-edged weapons. Six armed motorcyclists shot at and injured four villagers on Wednesday night. The injured, were brought to a hospital and two were in critical condition.
3 of family booked for dowry
Phagwara: The police have charged Joly of Tahli village in Nakodar, his father Resham Lal and mother Manjit Kaur with dowry harassment and assault. Joti, daughter of Parkash Singh Seechewal village, complained to the police that she was being tortured for dowry ever since her marriage in 2023 and beaten by in-laws. A case was registered against the accused after an inquiry.
