Panchkula, June 13

On the sidelines of the women’s basketball final between Punjab and Tamil Nadu, a tall girl was seen cheering for the Punjab team. Standing tall with a height of over 6 feet, Kapurthala’s Harsimran Kaur, an international basketball player, said, “I am here to watch my sister play for the first time who is representing the Punjab basketball team in KIYG. I want to inspire them.” When asked about her career in the US, she said, “We won the state championship in high school. After school, I chose the University of San Diego. I still have three years left in the university, so I think I have got some good prospects in the game.” Harsimran will be representing India in the coming Birmingham Commonwealth Games. — A correspondent
