Members of the Booth Level Officer (BLO) Union, Amritsar, has requested the district election authorities not to deploy them for poll duty on weekend and gazetted holidays.

In a memorandum handed over to District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney, they requested her if booth level officers would be deployed for Saturday, Sunday and on other government holidays on election duty, they should be given earned leave in lieu of those days.

The union also demanded their wages for amendment to the voter list should be raised from present Rs 7,000 to Rs 24,000 and earned leave should be provided in lieu of work done on holidays.
