Block-level sports meet for govt primary students concludes
The block-level sports tournament for students of primary classes concluded in which students from 19 blocks in Ludhiana district participated. The students took part in games including kabaddi, circle kabaddi, kho-kho, wrestling, long jump, rope-pulling, badminton, karate, football etc. The games were held under the guidance of District Education Officer (Primary) Ravinder Kaur and Deputy DEO Manoj Kumar.
Ravinder Kaur said that people in many villages had extended help and the NRIs also came forward with their contributions for the students. In this effort, the participants were encouraged by Baba Naag Bhag Committee, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Sports Club and the NRIs of village Kot Gangu in Machhiwara Block 2 who contributed cash prizes for the students and provided Rs 5,100, Rs 1,100, Rs 700 and Rs 500 to the winning teams.
Besides, the NRI families of village Kubbe in Doraha arranged for three days of langar for the students. In block Machiwara-1, a special cook was arranged for making food for the students and staff participating in the games. The games of Block 2 were held at Government Primary School, Dhandra, where students were given trophies and medals.
“These games provide a platform for the students to develop their overall personality and when these students are motivated by the villagers, it becomes all the more interesting and encouraging. We thank all those who extended help and cooperation,” said the DEO.
