The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) called for the resignation of the entire Union Cabinet after a bomb blast near a CRPF school in Rohini on Sunday, which AAP leaders attribute to a failure of law and order in Delhi.

Chief Minister Atishi on Sunday lashed out at the BJP-led Central Government, holding it responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the Capital, following a bomb blast outside a school in Rohini.

Atishi accused the Centre of focusing on disrupting the work of the elected Delhi Government rather than fulfilling its duty to ensure public safety.

“Today, Delhi is witnessing conditions reminiscent of the 1990s Mumbai underworld era. The city is seeing shootings in the broad daylight, gangsters extorting money from people, and a noticeable rise in the morale of criminals,” she said.

The CM further said, “The BJP neither has the intent nor the competence to govern. If Delhi resident ever made the mistake of entrusting them with governance, they would bring the state of schools, hospitals, power and water services down to the same level as the current law and order situation.”

She stated, “The BJP-led Centre is responsible for law and order in Delhi, but instead of fulfilling this duty, it spends all its time obstructing the work of the Delhi Government.”

Referring to a recent spate of crimes, including an incident where 60 rounds were fired in the Welcome area of Delhi, Atishi highlighted the rising crime in the city. “Reports of gangsters extorting money and threatening people are coming in regularly. And now, a minor bomb explosion occurred outside a school,” she said.

In a post on X, Atishi reiterated, “The bomb blast outside a school in Rohini exposes the deteriorating security situation in Delhi. The BJP-led Central Government is responsible for law and order in the city. However, they spend their time obstructing the efforts of the elected Delhi Government rather than fulfilling their responsibilities.”

“On behalf of the people of Delhi, I urge the BJP-led Centre to stop politicising issues related to the residents,” the post added.

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, addressing the media, condemned the incident and criticised the Central Government’s handling of security in the Capital.

“This blast near a school, especially before the festive season, highlights the Central Government’s indifference towards the safety of Delhiites,” Sisodia stated. He emphasised the potential tragedy that could have occurred had the explosion happened on a working day, saying, “We are grateful it was a holiday, but this incident shows a shocking lack of concern from the central government.”

Sisodia pointed out the escalating fear among residents, sharing, “Since this morning, I’ve received numerous calls urging me to avoid crowded places due to safety concerns. This clearly indicates the terror instilled in the people of Delhi because of the negligence of the BJP-led Central Government.”

He said, “Gangsters are threatening businessmen and even firing shots in public spaces without fear. This is not the Delhi we should accept.”

AAP minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The Central Government, responsible for police and traffic management in Delhi, has failed to address the rising law and order crisis. The police are inactive, and traffic chaos is rampant.”

Ruling party playing dirty politics: BJP

New Delhi: Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva expressed regret over what he described as the AAP’s politicisation of sensitive issues, particularly in light of the recent blast near a school in Rohini and incidents of firing. “It is regrettable to see AAP leaders playing dirty politics over such serious matters,” he stated, emphasising the need for a united front in addressing public safety concerns.
