The alleged police inaction during the poll violence has snowballed into a political controversy as the senior BJP leader, Preneet Kaur, led a sit-in protest near the Sanaur bus stand along with the family of Sarabjit Singh, the villager critically injured in the recent Sanaur violence and other villagers. The protesters demanded immediate action against the perpetrators and accountability from Punjab Police.

Preneet said, “It is appalling that even after 10 days, the police have failed to arrest the perpetrators involved in the incident in poll violence, booth capturing and opening fire at Sarabjit. These perpetrators were also identified and names were also shared with the police; however, no arrests have been made so far.”

She added, “This gross inaction undermines the people’s faith in the law-and-order machinery. We demand immediate action against the culprits and accountability from the CM Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government.”

Preneet Kaur criticised the ruling AAP-led state government’s inability to maintain law and order in the state. “The Sanaur incident highlights the government’s failure to ensure public safety. The police’s inaction indicates a collapse of the law enforcement system. The entire law and order situation has collapsed in Punjab under this failed AAP government,” she said.

She added, “They are actively trying to murder democracy. The violence in panchayat elections was just the beginning. Now, they’re deliberately denying justice to victims, shielding perpetrators with the ruling MLA’s protection.”

Following the protest, Preneet Kaur, who was also accompanied by BJP Mahila Morcha President Jai Inder Kaur, spoke with Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nanak Singh and Superintendent of Police (SP) Rural Rajesh Chibber and urged them to take stringent action against the perpetrators.
