The BJP candidate for Ateli Assembly constituency, Arti Rao, who is the daughter of Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh, struck an emotional chord with voters on Sunday, stating that she had come to electoral battle to serve the people.

“I have come here to be part of your joys and sorrows. My grandfather, Rao Birendra Singh, became the Chief Minister after he won from Ateli. It is your affection towards my family that has made me come and talk to you. You have never left my family. Whenever my family has come here, the people have supported us wholeheartedly,” said Arti while addressing a gathering in a village of the Ateli constituency.

She addressed the poll meetings in Kalwadi, Dongra Jat, Mundiya Khera, Bewal and Jhigavan villages and carried out door-to-door campaign in Kanina town on Sunday.

“When the Congress was in power in the state from 2005 to 2014, government jobs were given to people of a particular region and the development works were also carried out in that specific region. During the previous Congress regime, south Haryana was completely ignored in terms of development works,”

she claimed.

Arti claimed that not only south Haryana but the entire state witnessed a lot of development in the state ever since the BJP came to power in 2014.

Jobs were given on merit basis during the BJP government while the ‘parchi-kharchi’ system prevailed for government jobs during the previous Congress regime, she said.

“Now our youth have emerged leaders in sports and education in the past decade of the BJP regime. There is a flurry of development works in every region. A network of roads and canals has been laid all around the region so that people here can progress. Such progress was never seen before,” she said.
