The seat is being represented by Minister of State for urban local bodies Subhash Sudha who had won the seat for the BJP in the previous two Assembly elections.

In the previous Assembly election, Subhash Sudha defeated Congress candidate Ashok Arora by a margin of over 840 votes.

While the sitting MLA is confident that he will retain the seat based on the work done, Congress leader Ashok Arora, who is eyeing the party ticket, believes that things at the ground level haven’t changed and people of Thanesar are set to bring about a change.

Subhash Sudha said, “The BJP has worked for all sections of society and I am confident that the people will continue to support the party. The government has spent crores of rupees on the development works in Kurukshetra. The road network, sewerage system and power infrastructure have been strengthened. Similarly, various projects were started to increase tourism in Kurukshetra. We have been getting blessings from all communities so the BJP will form its government for the third time in Haryana”.

About the rumours of his seat being changed from Thanesar to Karnal, Subhash Sudha said, “The BJP has a big organisation and every BJP worker accepts its decision. I have been an MLA twice from Thanesar and I will contest the next election from the Thanesar Assembly again. The opposition is spreading rumours and I will request the party workers and supporters not to believe in what the opposition is spreading.”

Meanwhile, Ashok Arora, who is holding regular programmes and getting new people to join the party, said, “We have been getting a tremendous response from the public. The people of Haryana want to bring in a change and oust the BJP government. While the BJP MLA claims that a huge budget has been spent in Thanesar, the things at the ground level has not changed.
