BJP will act as responsible Opposition in state: Jakhar
Ludhiana, July 12
State BJP president Sunil Jakhar said today that over 25 lakh voters had reposed their trust in the party in the recently held Lok Sabha elections and it was the BJP’s turn to reciprocate and act like a responsible Opposition. Jakhar was in the city to take part in the extended state executive meet of the party’s Punjab unit.
He said the law and order situation in Punjab had gone from bad to worse and the state government had failed to provide a peaceful atmosphere in the state. Citing examples, he said gangsters were operating from jails and after the attack on Shiv Sena leader at Ludhiana, similar incidents had taken place at Amritsar.
Jakhar said AAP and Congress were into false propaganda that the BJP was anti-farmer. In times to come, the reality would be visible as the party shares cordial relations with the farming community.
Jakhar termed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s desperation for a bypoll win as moral defeat for a state government so sure of its misrule of two-and-half years during which it has plunged the state into the quagmire of communal strife, lawlessness and administrative apathy.
“In my long career as a politician, I have never seen a Chief Minister so despondent that he had to camp in the constituency in a rented house,” Jakhar said during his interaction with mediapersons here.
Will the Chief Minister go for rented accommodation in all other by-elections too which are going to take place soon, Jakhar quipped, adding that people of Jalandhar have seen the true face of AAP which has nothing to offer except hollow promises and fake propaganda.
The Punjab BJP president was interacting with the media here after the state executive meeting.
Earlier, a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being elected for a third straight term was also passed at the meeting.
Stressing that dialogue is the way forward for effective resolution of all issues being faced by Punjab, Jakhar said farmers, agricultural scientists and economists must be taken on board to evolve a solution by consensus.
Responding to a media query, Jakhar cautioned against proliferation of radical sentiments under AAP in Punjab.
