BJP sweeps Gurugram; wins all four segments

While it emerged as the face of anti-incumbency sentiment in the state, Gurugram chose to trust the BJP for a third consecutive time. All four assembly segments chose BJP candidates.

While Narbir emerged as the most celebrated winner, Debutant Mukesh Sharma won from Gurgaon city, Bimla Chaudhary from Pataudi, and Tejpal Tanwar from Sohna. The BJP unit said that the party’s victory in proved that anti-incumbency was social media-created hype that fizzed out with people’s mandate.

“We knew from day one that social media propaganda of opposition will fizzle out. They used videos of Gurugram to establish a fake sense of anti-incumbency but we proved that people still trust us and have hope. They chose temporary issues over the permanent era of lawlessness,” Rao Narbir said.

The victory in addition to redeeming the party has also fizzled out the narrative of anti-Khattar sentiment. It may be noted that the opposition has reported failure of former CM Manohar Lal Khattar as their key narrative. However, according to BJP, the victory has established success in his regime.

The party unit in Gurugram claims that people voted for 10 years of clean, transparent and development-driven governance.

“Our re-election for the third time proves that our governance won. The Khattar-Saini team proved their mettle and reversed all speculations and exit polls. Gurugram has chosen us and we will deliver,” Party media coordinator Arvind Saini said.

Leaders close to Khattar claimed it was his reformist policies, ‘No Bribe, No Slip’ regime, clean image, and honest leadership that left a profound impact on both urban and rural voters across Haryana.

“The Millennium City saw a major change in power scenario after Khattar took over as power minister in the centre. ‘Har Ghar Bijli’ (Electricity for Every Household) campaign, which provided 20 hours of electricity to rural areas and 24 hours for those who paid their bills in full, earned significant support from rural communities. Lesser power outages, and better complaint redressal got urban voters hooked in Gurugram. Khattar played a vital role in the victory and will continue to play a key role in shaping the next government and determining the responsibilities of key leaders,” a senior BJP leader said.
