BJP slams AAP on vote-cutting statements
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for its recent statements on vote-cutting, calling it a sign of the party’s growing apprehension about losing the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
Sachdeva’s remarks came in response to a press conference held by Delhi CM Atishi, where she raised concerns about vote-cutting and alleged discrepancies in the voter list.
Sachdeva alleged that the AAP’s rhetoric mirrors the behaviour of other Opposition parties in the INDIA bloc, including Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction), Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad faction) and the RJD, which have also questioned the impartiality of the Election Commission (EC) and the reliability of electronic voting machines (EVMs) after suffering electoral losses. “It’s unfortunate that now AAP is echoing similar claims, fearing defeat in the upcoming elections,” he said.
Addressing Atishi’s recent press conference, where she raised concerns about the removal of “fake voters” from the electoral rolls, Sachdeva said the AAP leader’s statements were a clear sign of fear, adding that Atishi’s comments reflected an internal survey indicating the inevitable exit of AAP from Delhi’s political landscape.
The BJP leader challenged AAP to move beyond political accusations and file an official complaint with the Election Commission or seek judicial redress if they genuinely believed there were irregularities in the voter list.
