BJP MP slams Kejriwal as ‘negligent’ CM
BJP leaders have intensified their calls for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to resign after the Supreme Court granted him conditional bail in the Delhi excise policy case. The decision has sparked a fierce reaction from the Opposition party in the Capital, which claims Kejriwal’s continued tenure is untenable.
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj did not mince words at a press conference on Friday. “Kejriwal has demonstrated negligence and a lack of responsibility as a leader,” Swaraj said. She noted that while Kejriwal was granted bail, he remains barred from signing any official documents or visiting his office. “The Supreme Court suggested that Kejriwal should step down. His refusal to do so is causing unnecessary hardship for Delhi,” Swaraj added.
The BJP MP also highlighted that the legality of Kejriwal’s arrest has been consistently upheld by the courts. “The trial court, high court and Supreme Court have all affirmed that his arrest was lawful,” Swaraj stated. “This indicates that the investigating agencies had substantial evidence against him, which justified his arrest and points to his role in the liquor scam.”
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva echoed the call for Kejriwal’s resignation, emphasising that bail does not exonerate him from the serious charges he faces. “Kejriwal has now joined the ranks of AAP leaders who are out on bail,” Sachdeva remarked. “Being granted bail is not an achievement.”
