Former CM and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur while addressing a ‘Jan Akrosh’ rally of BJP at the Zorawar Singh stadium in Dharamsala on Wednesday said that the Congress government has lost moral right to continue in power.
Thakur while addressing the rally said that in the last two years of the Congress rule, the party has pushed the state and its people to an edge. The BJP was now ready to push the present government out of power with the support of people. The Congress recently celebrated its two years in power. Despite efforts of the state leadership of the party, none of the senior Congress leaders from the Centre participated in the rally. This clearly illustrated that even they were not happy with the working of the present state government, he said.
The BJP leader further said that people are repenting electing the Congress. The state government spent Rs 25 crore on its rally to celebrate its two years in power but it did not have money to pay salaries to outsourced employees in the state. The outsourced employees in the state have not got salary for the past 5 months, Thakur said.
He further alleged that officers with doubtful integrity are being given prime postings in the present government. An official against whom the Congress leaders themselves spoke in Vidhan Sabha during the stint of the previous BJP are now occupying prime posts. These officials were removed from posts after allegations of corruption were raised against them, Thakur said.
The former CM said that certain notifications of Congress have made Himachal Pradesh a laughing stock in the entire country. They are blaming BJP for raking up issues, while erratic decisions are being taken by present government and withdrawn after public outrage, he said.
Vipin Singh Parmar, former Speaker of Himachal assembly and BJP MLA from Sullah, while addressing the rally said that people of the state are being burdened with taxes, still the government was facing financial crises. Power rates and water charges have been imposed that have burdened the common man in the state. He also alleged that about 10,000 youth who were recruited on outsourced basis were removed by present government. Many jobs have been abolished in various government departments. This was injustice with the unemployed youth of the state, he said.
BJP MLA from Dharamsala Sudhir Sharma, while addressing the rally, alleged that the Kangra was being discriminated against during the stint of the Congress. Many developmental projects like the North Campus of Central University Himachal Pradesh and international convention centre which are funded by the Union government have failed to take off.
Thousands of BJP workers participated in the Jan Akrosh rally of BJP in Dharamsala on Wednesday.
