BJP gives Union Minister Rao free hand to secure 12 seats in south Haryana
Having got his way in ticket allocation for almost 12 seats in south Haryana, BJP MP and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh has now been made in-charge of the party's poll campaign in the region. The BJP, according to highly placed sources, has told Rao he will be accountable for performance of the party on all these seats and has been given a free hand to do whatever it takes to secure south Haryana, especially Ahirwal, to the BJP.
Rao’s daughter Arti Rao too is debuting from Ateli. “ The party has handed out the majority of tickets in Ahirwal and few seats in other parts of south Haryana on strong recommendation and insistence of Rao. He is now incharge of these seats and will supervise each and every aspect and ensure victory. Several leaders expressed apprehensions that Rao may confine his attention to Ateli only, but he has assured to take care of all seats he got his people on,” revealed a senior BJP leader from Delhi.
“Ahirwal has supported the BJP since 2014 and exhibited trust in the party even in the Lok Sabha elections. The party has chosen winniable candidates after a lot of ground surveys and discussion with senior leaders. We are hopeful of repeating our victory here,” said Rao Inderjit while speaking to The Tribune. Sources claim Rao Inderjit is chalking out a uniform poll and campaign strategy for all candidates in Ahirwal. He will be monitoring campaigns on a day-to-day basis and will be star campaigner in south Haryana.
After the Lok Sabha elections, Rao Inderjit has emerged as one of the tallest leaders of the party who played a major role in ticket allocation and managed to get all his supporters a ticket. Rao is tallest Ahir leader and vital to the BJP’s victory in state. The party has through ticket allocation clearly chosen him over former CM ML Khattar camp in south Haryana. Rao has created ripples by not just playing a crucial role in the ticket allocation but also announcing how voters wanted to see him as CM. Rao came out openly in support of senior BJP leader Ram Bilas Sharma who was denied ticket and spoke against humiliation of the senior party leader.
