BJP expels 9 leaders for anti-party activity
The BJP has expelled nine leaders from its Kapurthala district unit, citing anti-party activities. The decision was announced by district BJP president Ranjit Singh Khojewal following consultations with Punjab BJP in-charge Vijay Rupani, co-in-charge Narinder Raina and senior members of the district core committee.
In a press statement issued today, Khojewal confirmed that senior BJP leaders Amreek Singh Tibbi and Ram Chander Singh from Ward 35 in Phagwara are among those expelled. Others sacked include Ramanjeet Saini, Goldy Pahwa, Satinder Rai (Ward 31), Anita (wife of Jatinder Kumar), Varinder Bahri, and Sunita Rani. Additionally, youth leader Mitul Sudhir from Ward 3 has been expelled for six years for anti-party activities.
Amreek Singh Tibbi and Ram Chander Singh were considered veteran BJP leaders in Phagwara. Meanwhile, Mitul Sudhir recently joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Anita is contesting as an independent candidate from Ward 31 in the upcoming elections.
The expulsions highlight BJP's strict stance against indiscipline as it gears up for local electoral battles in Punjab.
