Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Friday accused Chief Minister Atishi of misleading bus marshals and failing to act on regularisation of their jobs despite promises made in the Delhi Assembly. He alleged that the Chief Minister’s inaction reflects her awareness of her government’s impending exit from power.

“Chief Minister Atishi knows her government’s time is up, which is why no steps are being taken to regularise bus marshals or any other contract employees,” Sachdeva claimed, addressing mediapersons after the Assembly session.

The Delhi BJP chief highlighted that in October, Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena had directed the Delhi Government to assign civil defence volunteers to pollution control duties for four months. This move was intended to ensure the payment of their salaries, which had been pending for 10 months while they served as bus marshals with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

“The L-G had instructed the government to use funds from the pollution control department to pay these volunteers’ salaries. Simultaneously, the government was asked to draft an administrative proposal for regularising their services. However, this has not been done,” Sachdeva said.

He further alleged that civil defence volunteers, removed from their bus marshal roles by an order from former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, had lost faith in the AAP government. “Their refusal to rejoin duty, despite repeated requests from the Delhi Government, is a clear indication of their mistrust,” he added.

Sachdeva criticised Atishi for using the Assembly session for what he termed “political speeches” without addressing the issue of regularising the services of bus marshals. “Atishi should stop misleading bus marshals and immediately make the administrative proposal for regularising their services,” he stated.
