State BJP president Rajeev Bindal today lashed out at the state government for using force against peaceful protesting people in Sanjauli, leaving many injured.

In a statement issued here, Bindal said the manner in which peaceful protesting people were lathi-charged and hit with water cannons is wrong. “Many people sustained injuries which is condemnable as in a democracy people have the right to stage protest and demonstrate,” he said.

He said in the larger interest of the state and society, an amicable situation must be found to the long-pending issue at the earliest.

Bindal also questioned the silence of the government in clarifying its stand on the illegally raised mosque. “It is high time that the government stops insulting the Hindu sentiments by using force against their peaceful protest. In fact, it was Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu who had insulted the Hindus by stating that Congress had won the 2022 Assembly elections in Himachal, having 96 per cent Hindu population by defeating a party with a Hindu ideology,” Bindal said.
