Reacting on Singhu border violence, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Kumari Selja said efforts were being made by the BJP to suppress the peacefully protesting farmers by intimidating and threatening them.

The BJP is organising a planned conspiracy to attack the farmers sitting on Delhi borders in the cold weather, she added.

“In a democratic set up, everyone has a right to protest in a peaceful manner. The BJP should leave such petty tactics. The farmers are not weak and the entire country stands with them,” she said.

In a statement issued here today, Selja said the BJP government had been adopting every tactic to strangle the farmers’ movement.

“Reports have been received that people associated with the BJP were involved in the shameful act at the Red Fort on the Republic Day,” she said.
