In a move to stem the tide of recent defections in Karnal, BJP has appointed Brij Gupta, its district treasurer, as the working district president. Gupta, husband of former Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, who was denied a party ticket and expressed her dissatisfaction, demonstrated their influence within the party by organising a large convention. Despite their grievances, they announced they would not contest the election and would remain loyal to the party.

According to party sources, Gupta’s appointment as working district president, alongside district president Yogendra Rana, who is contesting the election from the Assandh segment, has energised party workers. Gupta urged workers to focus on grassroots efforts to strengthen the party and expressed confidence in resolving internal differences, saying, “I will try my best to bring back those who have left the party.”

Gupta predicted a huge margin of victory for BJP candidates Jagmohan Anand in Karnal, Yogendra Rana in Assandh, Harvinder Kalyan in Gharaunda, Ram Kumar Kashyap in Indri, and Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi in Nilokheri. “All party workers should work with dedication. BJP will win all five seats,” Gupta said.
