The ruling BJP has crossed the membership figure of 8 crore, as part of its ongoing membership drive that commenced from September 2.

BJP general secretary in-charge of membership drive, Vinod Tawde, said on Wednesday that the figure had been reached in just 30 days and the process was still on. “The BJP family is already 8 crore strong in 30 days. This data is proof that the country is committed to fulfilling PM Modi’s resolve to develop India,” said Tawde.

Before the BJP embarked on a new membership drive, it had 18 crore members. This time, Tawde says, the target is to reach 20 crore.
