Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva launched a scathing attack on the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government on Friday, accusing it of blocking central welfare schemes and mismanaging key sectors such as water, education and healthcare in the Capital.

Speaking to mediapersons, Sachdeva criticised Kejriwal for his approach to welfare initiatives, stating, “It is the duty of every government to ensure that welfare schemes reach every citizen, but Kejriwal’s language makes it seem like he is distributing ‘charity’ rather than fulfilling a fundamental duty.”

Sachdeva highlighted that in states governed by the BJP, Central Government schemes like Ayushman Bharat, Vishwakarma Scheme, Ujjwala Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana have been successfully implemented, benefiting millions across the country. However, he said, Delhi had been left out due to political rivalry. “The Kejriwal government has prevented the implementation of many Central schemes in Delhi because of their corrupt practices,” he said.

The BJP leader also questioned the Delhi Government’s promises regarding free electricity. “Why does Kejriwal claim to provide free electricity, but refuses to extend the same subsidy to everyone? Why are industrialists in Delhi paying Rs 18 per unit?” he asked, adding that the government is exploiting Delhiites through surcharges.

Sachdeva also raised alarms about the deteriorating water situation in the city. As far as free water supply scheme is concerned, the AAP government in 10 years failed to provide clean drinking water to the people of Delhi, Sachdeva said and cited government data to claim that 21,000 people died due to consumption of contaminated water in Delhi in the last few years.

“The Rs 73,000 crore scam in the Delhi Jal Board is a clear example of misgovernance,” he said. He promised that the BJP government would reorganise the Jal Board and ensure clean tap water is supplied to every household in the city.

Sachdeva also accused the government of neglecting school infrastructure.

On healthcare, Sachdeva questioned the so-called “free services” provided by the Kejriwal government. “Appointments for tests in government hospitals are being given years later, and expired medicines are being distributed. This is not free healthcare, but a scam at the expense of Delhiites’ health,” he alleged.

Sachdeva reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to improving welfare schemes in Delhi. “If the BJP comes to power, we will implement all Central Government schemes and expand the scope of welfare programmes in Delhi. Welfare schemes are the right of every citizen, and the BJP will ensure these rights are upheld,” he stated.
