BJP accuses AAP of voter scam, urges EC to take action
The BJP has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of facilitating illegal voter registrations of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Delhi, compromising national security and election integrity. BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa claimed that public funds were being misused to manipulate voter rolls for political gain.
In a letter to the Election Commission (EC), Sirsa pointed to significant discrepancies in the voter list in the Rajouri Garden constituency, noting an unusual surge in “new voters”, particularly men aged between 30 and 50. He argued that it was highly improbable for individuals in this age group to register as new voters unless they had recently migrated or were deliberately added to the list. Sirsa also observed that these registrations were concentrated in booths with a predominantly Muslim voter base, raising concerns about systematic manipulation.
Sirsa accused AAP MLAs, under the patronage of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, of facilitating the illegal registration of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis as voters. He claimed that this action not only violated the rights of legitimate citizens but also posed a serious threat to national security and the integrity of elections.
In his letter, Sirsa urged the EC to take immediate action, including conducting a comprehensive audit of voter lists across Delhi, with a particular focus on identifying suspicious patterns and illegal registrations. He also called for an investigation into the role of AAP MLAs and local officials in these irregularities and urged the EC to enforce stricter verification protocols for voter registration. Additionally, Sirsa requested that legal action be taken against those found guilty and that misused public funds be recovered from those responsible.
To support his claims, Sirsa shared a case of a woman named Husna Ara, who allegedly had two voter registrations with the same address but different photographs. He called this an example of the voter scam orchestrated by Kejriwal and the AAP, accusing the party of using fake registrations to manipulate the voter base.
