Bizman, worker held with Rs 92L ‘drug money’
The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on Tuesday night raided a house in Shastri Nagar, Jagraon, and arrested a feed factory owner and his worker with Rs 92 lakh cash. The cash was alleged to be drug money.
The raid was related to the recent arrest of seven persons by the ANTF on September 20 and seizure of 1 kg heroin, Rs 48 lakh drug money, two currency notes counting machines, two weapons, live cartridges, 262 gram gold, etc. During the questioning, the accused disclosed the name of a Jagraon-based man.
He used to convert the drug money into legitimate funds and transfer money through the hawala route. After verifying the information, a team of the ANTF conducted a raid at the house of the suspect in Jagraon.
Huge drama was witnessed in the area when cops raided the house. Additional force reached the spot to maintain the law and order situation.
Sources said that the factory owner with his worker was taken to ANTF office in Jalandhar where he was being questioned about his links with drug smugglers. The role of the nabbed factory owner for running hawala racket is also being investigated. Senior police officials were personally supervising the ongoing probe.
