Bittu ‘opportunist’, dancing to tunes of BJP: CM
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said Union Minister of State Ravneet Bittu was a perfect example of a political opportunist, who was dancing to the tunes of the BJP and making objectionable remarks against Rahul Gandhi.
The Chief Minister, while addressing a press conference here, condemned the “highly objectionable” remarks being made by some leaders, especially from the BJP, targeting Rahul Gandhi. “People like Bittu are making remarks against Rahul Gandhi just to remain relevant and stay in the limelight. When Bittu was in the Congress he would often praise Rahul Gandhi but now he has shown that he could stoop to any level just to remain in power,” he said. People like Bittu were not bothered about serving people but could go to any length to grab power, he alleged.
Sukhu said, “In a democracy, there is bound to be criticism, but we all must maintain dignity while commenting our political opponents. The Himachal Congress opposes and condemns Bittu’s highly objectionable remarks against Rahul Gandhi. I urge national BJP president JP Nadda to rein in people like Bittu as we all must desist from making such remarks for petty political gains.”
Asked whether he would campaign in the Assembly elections in two states, he said that he would perform whatever duty the Congres entrusts him. Shortly, he would go to Jammu and Kashmir for election campaign, he added.
Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, Director, Higher Education, Amarjeet Sharma, Director, Elementary Education, Ashish Kohli, Samagra Shiksha Project Director Rajesh Sharma and other senior officers attended the meeting.
