In a somber atmosphere, BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi struggled to hold back tears while addressing supporters at the grain market in Adampur today. His son, Bhavya Bishnoi, the BJP candidate, lost to retired bureaucrat and Congress candidate Chander Prakash by a margin of 1,768 votes.

During a workers’ meeting at their residence, Kuldeep found it difficult to speak as his voice choked amid the supportive slogans from workers pledging their loyalty to the Bishnoi family. After regaining his composure, he remarked that Bhavya received fewer votes than expected in several villages and Mandi Adampur. “We could not win the election by a margin of a few votes. There is no need to be disappointed. There are wins and losses in elections,” he said.

Kuldeep expressed optimism about the BJP’s return to power in the state, assuring supporters that there would be no interference in development work for Adampur and no shortage of funds. “We have always considered Adampur as a family and will continue to serve Adampur like a family,” he added.

In response to the loss, Bhavya Bishnoi accepted the people’s verdict. “The people of Adampur constituency are like my family. I thank the people and all the workers who worked hard in this election. I do not need any post to serve you. I promise that like the last 56 years, we will continue to serve Adampur as a family,” he said.

Bhavya also congratulated Chander Prakash, the winning Congress candidate, expressing hope that the newly elected MLA would meet the expectations of the people of Adampur.

This defeat marks the first loss for the Bhajan Lal family in Adampur, a seat they had held since 1968. Chander Prakash, the new winner, is the nephew of former Rajya Sabha MP Ramjilal, a long-time loyalist of the Bishnoi family. The Bhajan Lal family had won 16 consecutive elections before this 17th defeat.
