Phagwara: A motorcyclist was killed when a speeding car hit his bike from behind near Eastwood village on the highway on Tuesday night. The deceased Ravi Kumar of Jalandhar was going to village Khatti near Phagwara along with his wife Kamaljit Kaur to meet their relatives. The car driver fled after hitting them. Kamaljit also sustained injuries. The police have registered a case against the car driver. The body of the deceased had been handed over to the family.

Youth injured in attack

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Mandip Singh of Kanshi Nagar, Phagwara, the police have registered a case against a youth Rohit on the charges of attacking and injuring the complainant last night. Personal enmity was said to be the cause of attack, the police said.

2 arrested for liquor Trade

Phagwara: The police have arrested two liquor traders and seized 90 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession on Tuesday night. Station House Officer Amandeep Nahar said the accused, identified as Amanpreet Singh and Paramjit Singh, residents of Moti Bazar, Phagwara, who were nabbed at a check point, were booked under the Punjab Excise Act.

Shop burgled in Phagwara

Phagwara: A marble shop was reportedly burgled on the Phagwara-Nakodar road late Tuesday night, leading to the theft of cash and other items. According to Munish Jalota, shop owner of Indian Marble House, four persons entered the showroom, tied the watchman and entered the shop. They made off with Rs 8,000 and several other valuables. Through CCTV footage, the police are working to identify and apprehend them.

Farmers booked for farm fire

Nakodar: The police have booked two farmer for burning paddy stubble in the fields. The police received a complaint and satellite image of burning paddy stubble at Jahangir village. A case has been registered against the accused. The Lohian Khas police also booked a farmer for burning paddy stubble at Sidhupur village.

Married woman, child missing

Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police have registered a missing report in connection with the disappearance of a married migrant woman and her child. The victim has been identified as Rinki Devi (27), wife of Vijay Ram, a native of Bihar, presently living at Sidhupur village and her son. A missing report has been registered.

30-year youth reported missing

Nakodar: A 30-year-old youth, a resident of Ball Nau village, has been missing for the last five days. The victim has been identified as Rajwindar Singh, who left home on October 19 and did not return. A missing report had been registered.
