Six unidentified armed bike-borne assailants, with their faces covered, opened fire at people at Bhabhiana village late on Wednesday night.

Four villagers sustained bullet injuries in the incident. The suspects, who came on two bikes, managed to flee after the incident.

Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti, along with SHO Sadar Amandeep Nahar, reached the spot. Senior Medical Officer Dr Lehimber Ram said the injured persons had been identified as Bittu (42), Jashanpreet Singh (19), Butta Ram (55) and Shinda (45), all residents of Bhabhiana village.

The suspects earlier attacked another person near Domeli village with sharp weapons this night. The victim, Tejinder (25), has been admitted to a hospital.
