Bhupinder Singh Hooda accuses BJP of creating fertiliser shortage to burden farmers
Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has alleged that the BJP government is deliberately creating a fertiliser shortage to push farmers into financial loss. "Despite being in power for a decade, the BJP has failed to supply fertilisers to farmers on time," Hooda said. "Since coming to power, the BJP has forced farmers to queue endlessly for fertilisers and at mandis."
According to Hooda, farmers experience extensive delays each season, waiting in long lines at fertiliser centres but still fail to secure the needed supplies. "This government has shown an irresponsible attitude towards farmers over the past 10 years," he said. He also criticised delays in crop payments, alleging that farmers are denied MSP at the time of sale.
“The BJP government has reached the point where fertilisers are being distributed inside police stations,” Hooda claimed. He further questioned the government’s assertions that there is no fertiliser shortage. "The government claims ample fertiliser availability, but farmers struggle for every bag, facing heavy crowds, long queues and even police lathicharge. If the government has sufficient stock, why can’t farmers access it?"
Hooda noted that in October-November, farmers need around 2.8 lakh tonnes of DAP, yet this season they have only received 1.2 lakh tonnes. He speculated that the traditional DAP shortage might be a ploy to boost nano DAP sales.
