The Himachal Pradesh Government is emphasising on strengthening quality education so that better education could be provided in remote areas, said Education Minister Rohit Thakur while addressing people after inaugurating the newly constructed school block of Government Senior Secondary School, Chanair, in Chopal.

Mehar Singh Chauhan block has been constructed in the memory of former Theog MLA Mehar Singh Chauhan by his family. In his address, the Education Minister said it was an important initiative Manisha Chauhan, a social worker, had taken.

He said the state was progressing on the path of development day by day. "Former Chief Ministers Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar, Thakur Ram Lal and Virbhadra Singh have contributed a lot laying the foundation of this development," said the minister.

To fulfil shortage of teachers

The vacant posts of principals have been filled. Appointment letters will be given soon to more than 700 PGTs so that the shortage of teachers in remote areas can be overcome. Apart from this, the recruitment process for about 6,200 NTT posts will be started soon. — Rohit Thakur, Education Minister

He said the Sukhu government was committed to continue the pace of development through various schemes, especially in remote areas.

The Education Minister said the Education Department has received permission to fill 15,000 posts which will cover vacant posts in remote areas. He said about 3,200 posts of TGT and JBT have been filled batchwise.

The Education Minister said that many steps are being taken by the state government to improve education. "English subject has been made compulsory from class I itself. Transfers of teachers have been stopped during the academic session. Provision has been made to send teachers and students abroad on exposure visits," he said.
