The Gurugram police have arrested a person for sending a threat email to a shopkeeper, threatening to blow up his store with a bomb.

The accused — a worker in the shop — revealed that he did so because he did not receive his salary. The police have also recovered the phone that was used to send the email, from his possession. An FIR was registered at the cybercrime east police station.

According to the police, the arrested accused was identified as Salim Rana (22), a native of West Bengal. He used to work as a cleaner in a garment shop in the Galleria Market, but he returned to his native place in August.

On September 6, the garment shopkeeper filed a complaint to the police that he had received an email, in which the sender had threatened to blow his shop with a bomb. The team of the cyber police arrested the accused from West Bengal this morning.

“In the preliminary probe, the accused revealed that he had sent threat mails out of anger over not getting his salary. We are questioning the accused,” said a senior police officer.
