Bassa-Waziran clinch trophy at 3-day Nurpur cricket carnival
In order to boost rural sports activities, Ranjit Bakshi Jan Kalyan Foundation (RBJKF), a local NGO, recently organised a 3-day cricket carnival at Baduee playground. The cricket team from Bassa-Waziran clinched victory, while the Rit (Upper) team bagged the second position.
The Rit team had set a target of 41 runs, which was achieved by the winning team without losing any wicket in the final cricket match.
Anil Kumar of the BL Cricket Club, Jonta, was declared the man of the series, and was given a cash prize of Rs 11,000. The winning and runners-up teams were awarded Rs 31,000 and Rs 21,000 cash prizes, respectively.
Teams that stood 3-7 were also given cash prizes by the organisers.
RBJKF chairman Akil Bakshi said 40 teams from different areas of the Nurpur Assembly constituency had participated in the event this year.
The foundation had been organising the event with an objective to channel the energy of youngsters into sports activities.
