Banker’s murder: Six doctors, 2 others booked

A day after the body of a bank manager was recovered from the Sirhind feeder canal near Bhullar village here, the Muktsar Sadar police on Saturday registered a case of murder against eight persons, including six doctors here.

Simrandeep Singh (40), a resident of Guru Angad Dev Nagar here, who was posted as manager at a bank at Lakhewali near here, had gone out with his friends on Wednesday night, but he did not return.

Some divers and a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) fished out his body from the canal on Friday.

His wife Amandeep Kaur lodged a police complaint alleging that her husband was murdered.

Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case against six doctors, namely Sandeep Sandhu, Gurraj Singh, Amrinder Sandhu, Opminder Singh, Gurpreet Brar and Maheshinder Singh, and two other persons, namely Kaku Sandhu and Rinku Bawa, all residents of Muktsar town.

SSP Tushar Gupta confirmed that a case had been registered under Sections 103(2) and 190 of the BNS. The accused were, however, yet to be arrested.
