A State Bank of India (SBI) branch in the main bus stand, Kharar, was sealed after a woman employee tested positive for Covid-19 here today.
The Mohali Civil Surgeon, Dr Manjit Singh, said the bank had been sealed after the clerk contracted the infection. Other staff members of the bank had been asked to remain in home quarantine. Their samples were yet to be collected.
The SBI clerk was among 32 persons found infected with the virus in the district today, taking the tally to 747. They have been admitted to a Covid care centre at Gian Sagar Hospital in Banur.
A 25-year-old man from Devinagar village, Dera Bassi, a 24-year-old man from Jujhar Nagar, a 26-year-old man from Phase 3B2, a 42-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman from Peer Muchalla, a 53-year-old man from Phase 3B1, a 31-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man from Baltana, a 47-year-old man from Sohana, two men, aged 50 and 24, from Kharar and a 54-year-old man from Sector 78 were diagnosed with Covid-19.
Two men, aged 30 and 29, from Nayagaon, a 59-year-old man from Balongi, a 77-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman from Sector 66, a 31-year-old woman from Phase VI, a 35-year-old woman from Sector 67, a 58-year-old man from Sector 70, a 67-year-old man from Sector 61 and a 30-year-old man from Mohali contracted the infection.
Two men, aged 35 and 29, from Manauli, two men, aged 27 and 28, from Dera Bassi, a 24-year-old man from Gillco Towers, Kharar, a 42-year-old man from Khuraka village, Banur, a 23-year-old man from Khanpur, a 80-year-old woman from Green Valley, Kharar, a 28-year-old man from Sunny Enclave, Kharar, and a 24-year-old man from Phase X were found suffering from the disease.
As of now, there are 747 positive cases in the district. While 465 patients have been cured and discharged, there are 268 active cases. Fourteen persons have died of the disease in the district.
14 patients discharged
Meanwhile, 14 patients were discharged from the hospital after defeating the virus today. They are a 35-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man from Gulabgarh road, Dera Bassi, three women, aged 32, 21 and 35, a nine-year-old girl and two boys, aged nine and six, from Kharar, a 32-year-old man from Baltana, a 30-year-old woman from Malakpur, a 29-year-old woman from Rampur village, Banur, two men, aged 41 and 63, from Dhakoli and a 26-year-old woman from Phase IX, Mohali.
‘Police Dept stops public dealing’
According to sources, the Police Department has stopped public dealings in all police stations in the district till further orders as several police personnel have tested positive for coronavirus. The step has been taken to check the spread of virus among other cops.
