External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Bangladesh Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud on Wednesday reviewed the progress in wide-ranging areas of bilateral relations, including cross-border connectivity, economic and development partnership, cooperation in defence and security, power, energy, water resources and people-to-people exchanges.

Mahmud, who is on his first bilateral visit to any country, earlier in the day met NSA Ajit Doval to discuss the Rohingya issue. The criticality of the issue was flagged by Doval’s weekend dash to Dhaka to speak on the dilemma facing both countries on the intensified fighting in Myanmar which is raising fears of a further civilian influx. Besides delegation-level talks, Jaishankar also hosted a dinner in his honour. Earlier, Mahmud visited Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
