Balwant Singh Rajoana, convicted of assassinating former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, has been granted a three-hour parole by the Punjab and Haryana High Court to attend his brother Kulwant Singh Rajoana’s ‘bhog’ (Antim Ardas ceremony) tomorrow. The temporary parole, effective from 11 am to 2 pm, allows Rajoana to pay his respects to his deceased brother.

Rajoana’s case has been highly publicised due to his involvement in the assassination of Beant Singh, who was killed in 1995. Rajoana was convicted of the crime and sentenced to death. However, his execution was stayed due to various appeals and interventions.
