Baltana residents get 66 kV grid sub-station
Mohali, July 18
The Punjab Power Minister, Harbhajan Singh ETO, inaugurated new 66 kV grid sub-station at Baltana (Zirakpur) here today. He said the Punjab Government was committed to provide quality, reliable and uninterrupted power supply to all categories of consumers.
The new 66 kV grid Baltana sub-station has been constructed with one power transformer with a capacity of 20 MVA. The second planned power transformer with a capacity of 20 MVA will be installed shortly at the sub-station.
For this sub-station, 6.5km 66kV transmission line has been laid at a cost of Rs 912 lakh. The sub-station has been constructed keeping in view load in Zirakpur and adjoining areas. The commissioning of this grid sub-station will reduce load at existing 66 KV sub-station at Dhakoli and 66KV sub-station at Bhabat. The minister said the commissioning of this grid sub-station would boost power supply to colonies near Baltana, the Zirakpur-Ambala road area, the Zirakpur-Patiala road area, the Kalka-Shimla road area, the outskirts area of Zirakpur towards Chandigarh.
Town still powerless
On the first day of launch of the substation, many areas of Baltana went powerless. Residents complained that there was no power in some areas from 6 pm till 11:40 pm.
Areas to benefit
The Baltana grid sub-station will boost power supply to colonies near Baltana, the Zirakpur-Ambala road area, the Zirakpur-Patiala road area, the Kalka-Shimla road area and the outskirts area of Zirakpur towards Chandigarh.
