Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa, on Thursday, condemned the state government after the Council of Ministers announced to increase tax on petrol and diesel.

“The Aam Aadmi Party government has increased the price of retail fuels and also withdrawn the scheme of giving subsidised power to domestic consumers having up to 7 KW load. The petrol price has been increased by Rs 0.61 per litre and the diesel price by Rs 0.92 per litre. Enhancement in the price of diesel will not only cost the farmers dear but also add fuel to inflation,” Bajwa added.

He said that on the pretext of raising revenue, the AAP government has continued to burden the public. Exactly two weeks back, the government hiked motor vehicle tax, which made cars and two-wheelers unaffordable for the middle class and the weaker sections of society.
