A five-day workshop on “Sustainable Animal Production and Animal Health” was inaugurated at Dr GC Negi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur, in collaboration with the University of Melbourne, Australia. The Australian varsity team would train postgraduate students of the Palampur university.

Vice-Chancellor Naveen Kumar emphasised on exploring the possibility of greater cooperation on animal production and animal health. He said that sustainable development in the livestock industry should meet the demands of the world’s growing population for safe and secure food obtained from animals raised in harsh conditions while protecting the environment.

Naveen welcomed the team members from Australia for the workshop. Dean of the college Ravindra Kumar welcomed the guests and thanked them for participating in the training workshop. Training Coordinator and Head of Department Rajesh Chahota said that four scientists from Melbourne university, namely Grant Rollin (Team Leader), Roger Paskin, Jeff Cave and Surinder Singh, would provide training to postgraduate students and young faculty members of the college to enhance their skills in diagnosing infectious livestock diseases and various epidemiological tools to control and prevent them.
