Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday said Indian delegates for the upcoming 67th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) in Sydney will stress on all-round and inclusive development during their participation at the key meet. The 67th CPC, an annual conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, is scheduled in Sydney from November 3 to 8 with migration challenges, representation to LGBTQ people and attacks on parliamentarians topping the agenda.

Birla, speaking at the conclusion of a two-day preparatory meet of the India Chapter of the CPA today, said presiding officers of state assemblies and state legislatures in the country attended the conference and were apprised of the agenda of the November conference, which will see eight working groups on key items.

“On the agenda of the CPC this year is constructive engagement with the indigenous people; use of AI in parliamentary systems; violence against parliamentarians, participation of LGBTQ in parliaments, human trafficking, immigration and displacement issues, countering discriminatory laws and gender based violence and empowering persons with disabilities,” Birla said.
