Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a sharp attack on the RSS and BJP during a rally in the Hansi Assembly segment in Hisar district, alleging that while the Congress aims to unite the country, the RSS pursues a divisive agenda. He criticised the BJP for neglecting the needs of both farmers and soldiers, accusing the party of favouring the wealthy elite.

Kharge accused the BJP of only promoting RSS ideology, stating, “They have no concern for the jawans or the farmers. There are no farmers in the RSS and BJP.” He contrasted this with Congress’ past actions, highlighting that the Congress-led UPA government had waived Rs 72,000 crore in farmer loans, while the BJP, he claimed, waived Rs 16 lakh crore in loans for rich friends like Ambani and Adani without offering any substantial support to the poor farmers.

Referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Kharge said, “Rahul took out a unity campaign from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and travelled from Manipur to Mumbai. Yet, PM Modi could not even gather the courage to visit Manipur by plane.”

He further attacked the BJP for failing to deliver on promises related to minimum support price (MSP) for farmers and criticised the government for imposing GST on agricultural goods. Kharge also reminded the people of the farmers’ protests, saying, “We should not forget the sacrifice of 750 farmers who were martyred in the farmers’ movement.”

Touching on defence issues, Kharge criticised the Agniveer scheme introduced by the BJP, calling it a move that insulted soldiers. “The Congress had ensured permanent jobs and pensions for soldiers,” he said.

Kharge also promised that the Congress would protect the Constitution and ensure the continuation of reservation. “As long as there are weak people and untouchability in the country, reservation will continue. Congress will also fill the backlog of reservation,” he pledged.

The Congress president further accused the BJP of doing little for the development of Haryana. “BJP leaders make big claims, but there is no result,” he said. Kharge promised that once the Congress forms the government in the state, the Hansi subdivision would be upgraded to district status.

Labelling the BJP as a “government of liars,” Kharge took aim at PM Modi, accusing him of breaking the public’s trust. “Modi told hundreds of lies to gain power. He promised to bring back black money, give Rs 15 lakh to every citizen, and create two crore jobs every year. But in 10 years, nothing has been done. The Congress, on the other hand, keeps its promises,” Kharge asserted.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was present at the rally, credited Kharge for past infrastructure projects in the region, including the Meham-Hansi-Hisar rail line and a four-lane road from Hansi to Sirsa. Hooda accused the BJP of falsely claiming these achievements as their own, adding that Kharge had laid the groundwork for these projects long before the BJP took office.
