At Ambala rally, Rahul says respect alone won't help, poor need money too
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of taking money from the pocket of the poor and giving it to corporate friends. He said both respect and financial stability were important in life.
Addressing a rally in Naraingarh, the Congress leader said everyone talked about respect, respect of all was important, but money in the pocket and bank account of the poor — for the education of their children, health and future — was also important.
Rahul said, "If Modi ji keeps respecting you 24 hours, but at the same time, money is being taken out from your pockets, respect alone won’t sustain you. You will die of hunger. The bank account of Adani is getting money continuously, and the same amount is going out from the accounts of the poor."
He further said, “In America, 15 to 20 Haryana youths were staying in a small room. I asked them why they left Haryana and they said they risked their lives in search of jobs. They crossed various countries, and some of their friends were shot. They asked me to meet their parents as they wouldn’t be able to meet them for 10 years. They spent Rs 50 lakh to get to America and arranged money by selling agricultural land and taking a loan. Money was snatched from the pocket of the youth, because Haryana failed to give them jobs."
Striking an emotional chord, Rahul said since he had promised them, he reached Karnal to meet a family and when they were talking over a video call, a young boy came running, held the screen and asked his father to come back. "His father wanted to cry, but he chose to smile in front of his son," he said.
New farm laws were formed in the name of farmers' welfare, but if they were for the farmers, why were they on the roads, he asked.
Farmers struggle to sell paddy and get a fair price for their produce. The Agnipath scheme is also a medium to deprive pension to those opting for the Army.
Attacking the PM, Rahul said the PM did not want to waive farmers' debt. "If the loan of farmers can’t be waived, corporate loans should also not be waived," he said.
